RAHS Summer Event - Palmer Lake - First Rocky Mountain Chautauqua
Palmer Lake is the location of the first Rocky Mountain Chautauqua in 1887 and was a premier destination site during the hay day of the steam locomotive.
RAHS members and guests will take a guided walking tour with local historian, Jim Sawatzki, to learn the unique history of the area. A visit to the museum, lunch at a local restaurant (on your own) and a free ice cream social on the Village Green will follow.
A fee of $5 is payable at the event by either cash or check.
Those wishing to carpool should meet at 9 am in the Roxborough Market Place behind Sonic.
Those driving on their own must meet the tour group by 10:30 am at the Palmer Lake museum which is in the basement of the library on the Village Green.
Please RSVP for this trip by July 19 to Roxhistory@msn.com
