John Denver, Man For The World
An evening with John Stansfield author of John Denver: Man for the World
John Denver believed, "Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics, or the expression of our love and faith, music proves we are the same".
Award-winning storyteller and writer John Stansfield entertained and informed us about the life and career of John Denver, the performer and the social activist. John Denver achieved fame and fortune in his career as a singer, songwriter, and activist, and was tragically cut short by a fatal airplane accident.
Almost two decades after his death, his name is still well-known, while his music is played and sung throughout the world. Denver is remembered also for his humanitarian efforts and environmental concerns.
Mr. Stansfield discussed the influences in Denver’s personal life that shaped his remarkable achievements and empowered his celebrity. We even enjoyed a few group sing-a-longs, to John's memorable "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "Rocky Mountain High". A Q & A session followed the presentation, and book signing and sales.
Mr. Stansfield is the author of John Denver: Man for the World, the first biography of John Denver to be published in more than a decade.
Thank you, John Stansfield, John Denver, and all of our fabulous attendees, volunteers, and HRCA.
