The Highlands Ranch Historical Society presents :

Sterling Heroes of World War II

A PowerPoint Presentation of Poignant, Harrowing, Humorous,Remarkable Anecdotes.

Less than three weeks before the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Dr. John Elliff and Denny Dressman will share many of the personal experiences chronicled in their book,Sterling Heroes of World War II, which features first-person accounts by 36 veterans from rural northeast Colorado.

The collection of veterans represents a remarkable microcosm of America during the war years of the early 1940s:  Army,  Navy, Air Corps, Marines; a code-breaker; a liberator at the Dachau concentration camp; a veteran who transmitted half of President Roosevelt's last message to Japanese Emperor Hirohito just before the Pearl Harbor attack, and a Flying Ace. One veteran discovered the physician, who treated his sinus infection in Sterling, had provided the life-saving emergency treatment he received in a field hospital in Holland in 1944.

Poignant. Harrowing. Humorous. Remarkable.

STERLING HEROES chronicles a period in America's history that citizens of all ages should know and appreciate.

Books will be available for purchase and author-signing.
