This natural history program will take us back in time 10,000 -16,000 years, to when early residents of this area hunted mammoth, camels, ancient bison species, and other now-extinct animals. The Lamb Spring Archaeological site is a major location where evidence of some of the earliest people in the Americas, and a large concentration of the bones of extinct Colombian mammoths, have been found.
Jack C. Warner, President, Colorado Archaeological Society, will explain:
· What is the Lamb Spring Archaeological site?
· Why is it important to science?
· Where does the site fit into our pre-history?
· Why did these large animals live in different areas of the Denver Southwest suburbs?
