Printer-friendly version
Date and Time:
Saturday, July 19, 2014 - 10:45am to 1:00pm

On July 19 and September 20, RAHS members will conduct tours of the Miksch-Helmer Homestead Cabin located on Rampart Range Road.

The cabin was built in the early 1870s by Amos Miksch, cavalry soldier, signatory on a petition to establish Colorado as a state, and witness to Sand Creek massacre atrocities.

In an effort to preserve the cabin RAHS members, citizen's grass roots efforts, the Douglas County Preservation Board and the private owner resulted in a transfer of the cabin and a .33 acre parcel to Douglas County.

RAHS assists Douglas County’s preservation efforts by providing information and tours of the cabin.

Since there is limited parking at the site, all visitors must carpool from the Roxborough Market Shopping Center located at Roxborough Drive and Waterton Road.   For each event, visitors should park in the lot west of Sonic Drive-in at 10:45 am.
