Speaker:
Dr. Gordon C. Tucker Jr

The “story” of the area now known as Douglas County, from the time that Native Americans arrived more than 12,000 years ago until it was settled by non-indigenous people.  Woven into this story is a description of the archaeological work that Dr. Tucker and others have conducted in the area now under the waters of Reuter-Hess Reservoir, impounded by Frank Jaeger Dam southwest of Parker, Colorado.

The Douglas County History Repository will be exhibiting artifacts collected from Douglas County sites during Dr. Tucker’s presentation.

Ancient Douglas County: Telling the Story of a Special Place and its People

Highlands Ranch Historical Society (HRHS) hosts Dr. Gordon C. Tucker Jr. presenting Ancient Douglas County: Telling the Story of a Special Place and its People

Testimonial:
Dr. Tucker’s program was well done and easy to understand because he explained both his work and findings in Douglas County in lay terms.  His approach to archaeology by using the process and science to tell a story really captured the audience and led to a good understanding of what was happening culturally in Douglas County some 10,000 years ago.

In 2020, Dr. Tucker will be providing a program focusing entirely on Highlands Ranch. Both programs will have PowerPoints and a display of artifacts.
